Hello!
Yeah, so, I haven't blogged in a while....soz.
Anyway, so I am traveling to Europe in two months time and I've decided to start documenting my journey now.
I am currently in the process of exchanging money that I've saved and making a general budget for my trip. I have no freaking idea how much to take! Trust me, I have looked up blogs, websites and community forums to try and find a reasonable answer, but the thing is, everyone is so different in terms of how they spend their money. I'm definitely not a nomad who spends only £30 pounds a day, nor am I an extravagant spender who buys Chanel every single day.
So after my extensive research, I've come up with my own estimate of how much I will need for each location (keep in mind, accommodation, flights, major train journeys and any tours have been booked already):
London: 9 1/2 days - £100/day = £900- £1000
Edinburgh: 2 1/2 days - £100/day = £300
Paris: 5 days - €120/day = €600
I've been to London before and have experienced some of the tourists sites however, I feel like I shopped more than I explored. So this time, I want more experiences and awesome photos rather than a Top Shop outfit. Obviously, if I see something I really like, I will buy it, but shopping will not be my top priority in London.
As for Paris, that is where I want to shop. To be more precise, I want to buy designer accessories in Paris. My heart is set on a Louis Vuitton bag, so I have set aside money for this lavish purchase. I have already gone to some of the major Parisian sites such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and Notre Dame, but I am so keen to go back to these locations with my friend, Kate who has never been to Paris.
Edinburgh is brand, spanking new for me, so I am ready to explore! I am excited to spot Nessie.
My estimations above are the minimum amount of what I actually want to take. I think it's best to take more than you need, just in case. Also, the exchange rate from Australian dollars to these currencies is ridiculous! What if it gets worse while I'm away and I need more money? No thank you.
Here is some great advice that has been given to me: don't worry about money when you travel. If there is somewhere you really want to go or there's a show you really want to see and it's all a bit expensive, just do it! You don't want to regret anything when you come back.
So, it's happy continue-to-save for the next two months for me!
