Willkommen to my blog! And yes, what a great way to start a brand new blog; I’m writing about shopping.
So, this year I am a full-time working actor - huzzah for weekly paychecks! When I’m not acting, one of my favourite hobbies is to shop. Sometimes I just browse and hope to find something amazing. Other times, I shop with a purpose.
Let me just run this scenario by you:
Writing the above disclaimer sparked my thoughts and wonderings about controlling one’s shopping. I ended up checking out a few websites (which will remain nameless) in order to find out some techniques to “help” control shopping. I do doubt the effectiveness of these techniques and I’ve thoroughly analysed (not really) each technique.
Look at Facebook; you scroll through your feed and an ad pops up for an online store advertising an amazing dress. Do you click on the link? No - you stay strong and say NO. Oh wait whaaaaaat? THERE’S 20% OFF - dammit. Boom. You click the link and you end up buying the dress.
It is also recommended to leave your credit cards at home. But what if there is an emergency?! What if your favourite shoe shop is having a promotion and there are three pairs of shoes that you really want (obviously costing more than $150)? I mean yeah, obviously you don’t have to buy them all...BUT THEY ARE REALLY NICE!
Also, technology is so awesome now; bank apps allow you to make purchases using your phone. So you know what? Maybe I will leave my cards at home and MAYBE I’ll make sure my phone is fully charged and ready to make some purchases. Take that cards...
Reader of this blog post: “Ask someone to do it for you, you idiot”
Me: “Yeah....look I’m just really busy at the moment...I don’t really have time to ask someone....and they are probably really busy too....”
Like I said, I don’t have a shopping addiction. Seriously. I don’t. I just like to shop on a weekly basis. It’s not that bad. I just happen to always find something to buy. Actually that’s a lie. Sometimes I don’t buy anything. SOOOO THERE...PROGRESS!
Just so you know, not all posts will be dripping with sarcasm. In all seriousness, I do love shopping and I love fashion.
I wear what I want to wear and do what I want to do and I’m going to share that with you (yay for unintentional rhyming!).
Until next time.

Your pay enters your account....what do you do? (YES, I do put a percentage of my pay into a savings account just in case you were thinking I burn it all away). But what about the rest of the money? Every week, there is a part of my brain saying, “OI! DON’T SPEND IT!” You know what stupid section of my brain, sometimes I think you don’t know me at all! Of course I’m going to spend SOME (if not, all) of it. Look, let’s just say some.disclaimer: I don’t have a shopping addiction. I just really like shopping.
Technique 1: STAY AWAY
Oh Really? Just stay away? WOW! Thank you! I didn’t think of that. #sarcasm We live in a world where an online store is just a Google search away.Look at Facebook; you scroll through your feed and an ad pops up for an online store advertising an amazing dress. Do you click on the link? No - you stay strong and say NO. Oh wait whaaaaaat? THERE’S 20% OFF - dammit. Boom. You click the link and you end up buying the dress.
Technique 2: CASH
They say to take around $150 out of your account when going to the shops to help reduce your shopping. ATMs...they are awesome.

Technique 3: FIND ANOTHER STRESS RELIEF
It may shock you, but a lot of women shop when they are stressed or emotional. A suggestion is to find another stress relief activity such as exercise, watching a movie or reading. Look - I love going doing all of these things, but I will still find time to shop.Technique 4: BLOCK WEBSITES
I don’t know how to do that.Reader of this blog post: “Ask someone to do it for you, you idiot”
Me: “Yeah....look I’m just really busy at the moment...I don’t really have time to ask someone....and they are probably really busy too....”
Technique 5: WALK AWAY
I’m walking awaaaaayyyy, from the troubles in my life! (Ah Craig...). Look, if it’s easy to walk away, it’s just as easy to walk back.Like I said, I don’t have a shopping addiction. Seriously. I don’t. I just like to shop on a weekly basis. It’s not that bad. I just happen to always find something to buy. Actually that’s a lie. Sometimes I don’t buy anything. SOOOO THERE...PROGRESS!
